Mariko is a Japanese artist whose work was influenced by her multicultral experiences. Manga artists such as Masumi Moriwaki, and Moto Hagio have influenced Mariko as a young artist. 

In recent years, she has trained with instructor David Kibuuka in learning the technique of Modern Batik painting.
